Dog grooming business shortlisted in search for UK’s best shop name pun

A LOCAL dog groomer has featured on a shortlist of the UK’s best business name puns.

The business in question is Brae-based Hairy Pop-ins, which is a play on Mary Poppins.

People can now vote online for their favourite shop puns across the UK, with Hairy Pop-ins in the Scotland category.

The vote to crown the “punniest shop name” is being organised by language learning business Babbel.

Hairy Pop-ins owner Ashley Davies said she wanted a “fun and catchy” name that stood out when she began the home business in 2018.

“Over the years I have had a lot of comments on my business name and how much people love it,” she said.

Davies added that she is a “massive Disney fan” so Hairy Pop-ins felt “inevitable”.

“I do love a dinosaur too so Furassic Bark was also a favourite.
