Gloucester hair salon marks ten years in business

A family-run hair salon in Gloucester have officially marked a decade in business in what is being described as “a big achievement” overall. Having moved from Stroud Road in Tuffley in 2020, their current hair salon has remained in the locality where for three years Beau Hair Salon has been next to the Robinswood Hill Social Club off Fox Elms Road.

When the hair salon opened their new home, they spent £27,000 on the new premises. They did not want to move to the centre of Gloucester because they value clients from Tuffley.

Brother and sister Bryn and Danielle Whitmore run the salon alongside mum Jo Cowe, with all three joint-owners forming a strong dedicated team for clients. It’s well-known that the salon have done heart-warming community deeds such as collecting elderly customers and isolated regulars for appointments during the pandemic.

Over the past decade, the recognition has also been positive for the family as in 2017 both Danielle and Bryn made it through to the last 30 finalists of the Schwarzkof Young Artistic team in the UK, which is something to be proud of because as Bryn mentions, “this was never an original plan. I thought I’d be an electrician, so did Danielle and this has been a big career change for both of us.”

“It’s amazing how we’ve built this as a family”, Bryn said. “It has been a big achievement to grow and quite rare to have a salon where a family runs it. Marking ten years means it is definately a forever thing.”

To get to ten years is clearly important for any business, but for Bryn and Danielle it is also something that required patience, especially finding a client base to trust you and building a name for yourself in the community. Inflation has also been hard, where prices have risen but as Bryn says, “once you find a good customer base, they are willing to pay.”
