International students, visitors and those with a new work permit in Canada have to shell out more in fees to get their status restored. The Canadian government has increased the fee to restore status as a visitor, a new work permit or student, or a new study permit, from December 1, 2023.
These fees have been adjusted to account for the yearly rate of inflation since April 2018. They will continue to be adjusted annually for inflation every December 1. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) hs released the new fee structure for the benefit of students and workers.
New Fee Structure ( December 1, 2023 onwards)
Restore your status as a visitor, worker or student

Restore your status as a worker and get a new work permit
Earlier Fee: $355.00

Restore your status as a student and get a new study permit

* This fee is a combination of the new restoration fee ($229.77) and the work permit fee ($155.00) or study permit fee ($150.00), which have not changed.
IFor example, the cost of a Study permit (including extensions) per person is 150 Canadian dollars. To restore your status as a student, the fee now will be 379.77 Canadian Dollars. The cost of Open work permit holder is 100 Canadian dollars. To restore your status as a worker, the fee now will be 384.77 Canadian Dollars.
Where service standards are not met, partial refunds, known as remissions, will be issued to applicants if IRCC receives their complete application on or after December 1, 2023. They will typically be issued by July 1 of the following fiscal year (April 1 to March 31) via the method of original payment, or by cheque for payments that are not made online.
