’61 Wayne Mannebach (EHS), of Ripon, taught for 42 years at St. Mary Catholic High School in Neenah until retiring at 80. In his retirement, Mannebach enjoys playing chess and the Boggle Brain Busters word games.

’69 James Marshall (LS), of Germantown, has co-authored the book The American Tailwind: Warren Buffet and the History of American Resilience. Marshall will hold a public book launch party on Nov. 29.

’74 Kathy Murphy (LS), of Oshkosh, ’76 Melissa Kohn (EHS) and ’85 (MSE), of Sun City Center, Florida, ’80 Maureen Mezera (EHS), of Campbellsport, and ’84 Joye Moon (LS), of Oshkosh are all graduates of the UWO art department. The group traveled together to Sicily, Italy.

’75 Gloria (Fossum) Boileau (LS), of Brown Deer, is an international speaker and author of books including Stop the Fear: Finding Peace in a Chaotic World.

’76 Pat (Condon) Flahart (MSE), of Phoenix, Arizona, enjoys exercising, dancing and traveling in her retirement. Flahart has seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

’76 Lance Vechinski (EHS), of Shelby Township, Michigan, returned to the UWO campus with fellow music alumni to reminisce and visit former instructors Dr. and Mrs. Grine.

’79 David Galassie (B), of Columbia, South Carolina, celebrated 44 years of combined military/civilian service to the federal government. Galassie is a human resources analyst for the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command and authored the book Fort Jackson.

’81 Gary Klein (LS), of Sheboygan, is a photojournalist with the Sheboygan Press.

’83 Jamie Bonell (N) and ’86 (MSN), of Oshkosh, ’94 Denise (Bruley) Turnmeyer (N), of Oshkosh, and dean emeritus of the UWO College of Nursing Rosemary Smith traveled together to Sicily, Italy. All three were instructors in the College of Nursing.

’85 Joy Smith (LS), of Lakeland, Florida, released novels Seedlings and its sequel, Crystal Quest.

’21 Amber (Raygo) Hammond

’87 Margaret (Brown) Schell (LS), of Gray, Georgia, has been a writer for 23 years, currently as communications coordinator at Georgia College & State University.

’91 Jeff Matczak (EHS), of Kaukauna, is the Kaukauna High School wrestling coach. Matczak was named the 2021-2022 National Federations of State High School Associations (NFHS) National Wrestling Coach of the Year.

’04 Tara (Christensen) Caul (EHS) and ’11 (MSE), of Malone, is a literary specialist at Sheboygan Falls Elementary School.

’05 Justin Tadych (B), of Oshkosh, is the owner of E-Power Marketing, a digital marketing company whose staff includes eight UWO alumni and two UWO students. Tadych is married to ’15 Carrie (Smith) Tadych (LS).

’06 Shannon Ferguson (MSE), of Lomira, is a K-3 special education teacher at Lomira Elementary School. Ferguson previously taught for 20 years at Fond du Lac High School.

’09 John Erickson (LS), of West Hollywood, California, received the 2023 Ripon High School Distinguished Alumni Award for his athletic excellence, school involvement and community activism. Erickson is a member of the UW Oshkosh Alumni Association Board of Directors.

’10 Heddy Pahnke (LS), of Fond du Lac, is a business education teacher at Mayville High School. Pahnke has been teaching in the Wisconsin Technical College System since 2015 in the business and information technology fields.

’21 Zach Schoenberger and ’21 Payton (Kardys) Schoenberger

’11 John Polkowski (EHS), of Oneida, is the Pulaski High School boys basketball coach. Polkowski was formerly the boys varsity coach at Green Bay Southwest High School for 10 years and received the 2019 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Achievement Award.

’17 Lindsey Kastner (EHS), of Kewaskum, is a first grade teacher at Horicon Elementary School.

’21 Amber (Raygo) Hammond (LS), of Menasha, is the assistant director of The Grand Oshkosh. Hammond is on the UWO Fox Cities board of directors, was the 2023 Winnebago County Fairest of the Fair, and a Class of 2023 Leadership Oshkosh participant. Hammond is married to ’21 Austin Hammond (LS).

’21 Payton (Kardys) Schoenberger (EHS), of Janesville, married ’21 Zach Schoenberger (B) in September. (Kardys) Schoenberger is a teacher at West Side Elementary School in Elkhorn and Schoenberger is a project manager in Madison.

’21 Brennen Ward (EHS), of Sheboygan, is a physical education teacher at Parkview Elementary School in Plymouth and an offensive line coach for the Appleton East High School football team.
