PARKERSBURG — Promoting its slogan “Experience experience,” Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. and its parent company Tri-State/Service Roofing and Sheet Metal Group is celebrating its first century in business in 2023.
The group spans four generations of leadership and more than 1 billion square feet of professionally installed roofing. Starting in 1923, with one service and one location in Wheeling, the company is now a regional specialty contractor known for technical and engineering expertise in all types of commercial roofing systems, sheet metal fabrication and HVAC/mechanical systems.
Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal’s Parkersburg division was established in 1949 following the group’s acquisition of Smith and Burrows Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. It is among 12 full-service commercial and industrial roofing and sheet metal fabrication companies in the network today.
According to the group, a secret to its success has been the knowledge that comes with decades of construction experience. Customers are often introduced to the company through troubleshooting leaks and other nagging building maintenance problems and stay connected for future projects, the company said.
“People trust Tri-State to solve difficult facility management problems. With roofing, mechanical, and sheet metal fabrication capabilities, we are a one-stop resource for building owners and managers,” Jason Lewis, Parkersburg Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal president, said. “Another key to our longevity has been a commitment to recruiting, training, and retaining the very best people in all roles in our company.”
Safety is the No. 1 priority and also has contributed to the company’s longevity and success, he said.
The group is active in the communities it serves. When the National Roofing Contractors Association Roofing Alliance approached the company about helping Ronald McDonald Houses, Tri-State agreed.
Company-wide, Tri-State Service Group has adopted the roofs of 11 Ronald McDonald Houses, including houses in Charleston and Huntington, providing inspections, repairs and maintenance to the organization.
“We’re so grateful to the Tri-State/Service Group’s support to help maintain roofs at select Ronald McDonald House programs in the area,” Adam McCormack, director of development at Ronald McDonald House Charities, said. “This commitment to RMHC allows the organization to focus on what matters most, supporting families with children who are sick when they need it most.”
Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal in Parkersburg installs, maintains and repairs all time-tested and field-proven low-slope and steep-slope roofing systems by all major material manufacturers, including the group’s original product and service: built-up roofs.
The company’s mechanical division provides HVAC, refrigeration, ductwork fabrication and dust-fume systems including design, installation, emergency call service, repair and maintenance.
In-house metal fabrication shops support the roofing and mechanical divisions with custom-built metal products. Tri-State works regularly with industries to improve processes, material handling, access and safety with specially designed metal products.
