Businesses from around Lorain County have banded together for a pop-up event on Oct. 19.
Spearheaded by the mother and son team of Tryntje Larkins and Jeff “Jefe” Seats, and their businesses, Beautiful Bosses and The Tasting Experience, the event will bring Halloween spirit to Elyria.
This year’s pop-up will take place at 101 S. Park Drive in Elyria at the South Park Thomas O. Shores South Recreation Center.
It will provide plenty of food vendors from around the area, Larkins said, as well as creations from Seats and the Tasting Experience.
The Tasting Experience has been running the event in Elyria for the past five years, he said.
“It’s a vendor show, I guess you could call it,” Seats said. “We’ve done it for five years now.
“We usually just have food there, different local food vendors from Lorain and Elyria, some from Avon and Amherst as well. But this year, we decided to make it bigger.”
When Larkins opened the doors on her business near the start of the year, Seats said it gave him and the pop-up team a perfect opportunity to expand their event.
Seats said he was more than excited to bring his mother into the fold.
“(We wanted to) bring out other local businesses, like fashion designers, hairstylists and other businesses that have a lot to contribute to the community,” he said.
Larkins said she was thrilled to work with her son on this year’s pop-up.
Seats echoed that sentiment and said that he was excited to show Larkins the ropes when it comes to running a small business.
“It’s been amazing for me,” Larkins said. “I just started my business.
“He has given me a lot of inspiration, good business ideas, business management ideas. So, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Larkins added that this year’s event will be a family-focused pop-up for the entire Lorain County.
The event also will feature trick-or-treating for the youngsters, a costume contest and other activities.
“The reason why I say we made it into a big community event, is we’re also going to have trick-or-treat there for the kids,” she said. “(We’ll have) best dressed costumes for the kids, a raffle giveaway for a big huge pumpkin.
“For me, it’s bringing the community together under one roof.”
Larkins said having the ability to bring the community together in Elyria was extremely important for her.
She said she believes that Elyria, and Lorain County as a whole, needs more opportunities like this, where they can showcase local businesses to the wider community.
“We need to come together more … to do things, to show love to one another, to support each other as far as local business owners,” she said. “Lorain County has a lot of local business owners here.
“We just need to bring them under one roof, so we can all shine.”
The pop-up event has no more spots for food vendors, but is accepting vendors of all other kinds.
Those looking to showcase their product at the event, should call Larkins at 440-219-2501.
