Poland claims rocket that killed its citizens was fired by Ukraine – as it accuses Kyiv of ‘lack of cooperation’
A rocket that killed two people in Poland last year was fired by Ukraine, not Russia, according to reports.
While Soviet-made, an investigation has “categorically” confirmed it belonged to the Ukrainian army, Poland’s prosecutor general Zbigniew Ziobro told Radio Lublin.
The missile was fired as part of an air defence operation during a massive Russian attack on western Ukraine on 15 November, reported the Rzeczpospolita newspaper.
Mr Ziobro expressed frustration over what he called a lack of cooperation from Ukrainian authorities during the investigation.
“We cooperate with Ukraine on matters that are important to Ukraine. Polish prosecutors traveled to Ukraine and conducted investigative activities in Ukraine to help the Ukrainian side document Russian crimes,” he told Radio Lublin.
“However, I note with sadness that there is no similar attitude from the Ukrainian side in this matter. This has been going on for months.”
Last year, the Polish foreign ministry said a Russian-produced rocket fell on the village of Przewodow and summoned the Russian ambassador.
