What will Castlevania: Nocturne be about?
“The gory and gothic adventures of the Castlevania franchise continue with an exciting new setting and their highest stakes yet,” reads the logline. “A gripping story of love and loss, Nocturne marks an evolution to the original fan-favorite Castlevania series.”
Based on Konami’s 1993 Castlevania: Rondo of Blood video game, Castlevania: Nocturne is created and written by Clive Bradley, with Kevin Kolde serving as the showrunner. The series is set during the French Revolution, centering around Trevor Belmont and Sypha’s descendant Richter, who is carrying on with his family’s vampire-hunting tradition. The project hails from Powerhouse Animation.
The spin-off features the voices of Edward Bluemel as Richter, Pixie Davies as Maria Renard, Thuso Mbedu as Annette, Natassja Kinski as Tera, Sydney James Harcourt as Edouard, Zahn McClarnon as and Franka Potente as Erzsebet Báthory. The latter character is based on a real life controversial figure in history, who’s said to be a serial killer that murders and tortures hundreds of girls and women. Legends say she used the blood of her victims to stay youthful by bathing in it.
