British Airways and Indian carrier IndiGo have entered a codeshare agreement to boost connections between the UK and India.

The agreement will allow British Airways passengers flying from London Heathrow to Delhi and Mumbai to connect to a further eight cities in India served by IndiGo.

The new codeshare destinations in India include Amritsar via New Delhi and seven cities via Mumbai: Kochi, Ahmedabad, Goa, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, Rajkot (Hirasar) and Vadodara. These codeshare flights can be booked through British Airways from Friday (22 September) for travel after 12 October.

British Airways director of network and alliances, Neil Chernoff, said: “Our partnership with IndiGo means that customers will be able to book their entire journey on one ticket, allowing seamless travel all the way from London to their final destination, offering more choice and flexibility for customers.”

Abhijit Dasgupta, senior vice president, network planning and revenue management at IndiGo, added: “This step to provide seamless connectivity will not only support trade and commerce between the two countries but also offer convenient travel options to students and tourists.”

The move follows a recent codeshare agreement between IndiGo and Virgin Atlantic as the Indian carrier looks to enhance its international connectivity.
