Canadian airline WestJet is expanding its network in Europe through an expanded codeshare with Air France and converting its summer route between Paris and Calgary into a year-round service.
WestJet’s existing codeshare with Air France covers 22 destinations in Europe from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport but this will be expanded from 25 September when another 31 destinations across 11 European countries from Paris CDG are added to the codeshare.
These new codeshare destinations include Air France’s routes to Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, Naples, Zurich, Marseille, Barcelona, Madrid, Edinburgh, Dublin, Manchester and Birmingham.
The carrier added that due to “exceptional demand” for its summer route between Paris and Calgary, this service will be expanded into a year-round route with a daily service operating during peak travel periods.
Chris Avery, WestJet’s vice-president of commercial development, said: “As we prepare for our first year of winter flying to Paris, today’s announcement marks an important milestone in our partnership with Air France, that will bolster seamless connectivity between Canada and desirable destinations.”
Fahmi Mahjoub, Air France KLM’s senior vice-president for alliances, added: “Air France and WestJet have a longstanding and extensive relationship with already more than 23 destinations offered across Canada under Air France code. With this development we are expanding the co-operation further.”
