“The export businesses of Bangladesh may face challenges after its exit from the group of LDCs in 2026. Switzerland, as a long-time friend of Bangladesh, will stand by to help face those challenges,” said newly appointed Swiss Ambassador Reto Renggli.

Switzerland will assist Bangladesh in dealing with commercial challenges after its transition from Least Developed Country (LDC), said the country’s Ambassador to Dhaka Reto Renggli on Thursday.

“The export businesses of Bangladesh may face challenges after its exit from the group of LDCs in 2026. Switzerland, as a long-time friend of Bangladesh, will stand by to help face those challenges,” the newly appointed Swiss ambassador told reporters after a courtesy call on Planning Minister MA Mannan at his office today.

He mentioned that Bangladesh will need export and trade policy support to meet the challenges of transitioning from LDC.

“Most countries around the world faced the challenge of reviving their economy after the Covid pandemic. I believe Bangladesh’s overall economy has been able to overcome those challenges,” the Swiss ambassador added.

He also noted Switzerland’s continued support for the sustainable development of Bangladesh over the past 50 years.

The planning minister expressed his appreciation for the gesture of the Swiss ambassador and shared with reporters that Reto Renggli himself assured that when Bangladesh graduates from LDC in 2026, Switzerland will be by their side to help face the challenges and provide necessary support.
