Tickets for Singapore’s Formula 1 GP in September are “almost sold out” after the event organizer “was forced to reduce capacity,” according to Yi Wei Wong of BLOOMBERG NEWS. Singapore GP race organizers said in a statement that the race is “expected to draw 250,000 spectators.” That is “down 17%” from last year’s record attendance, as broader redevelopment plans “closed its biggest grandstand.” Very limited availability remains after “16 of the 23 ticket categories were bought out.” The Straits Times reported the “priciest tickets” of around $11,000 were “snapped up as early as April even as the tickets became the most expensive ever since Singapore started hosting the night race in 2008” (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 8/29).
HOT COMMODITY: In Melbourne, Damien Ractliffe notes grandstand and park passes for the final day of next year’s Australian GP have “sold out” on the same day tickets for next weekend’s blockbuster Australian Football League qualifying final between Collingwood and Melbourne were snapped up. Grandstand seating has “also sold out for Saturday’s qualifying day, with limited park passes available” (Melbourne AGE, 8/29).
