Nearly two-thirds of corporate counsel said in a new LexisNexis survey they expect law firms to use cutting-edge generative AI tools. Among law firms, slightly more than half believe their corporate counsel clients will expect them to use generative AI tools and just about half of all respondents believe generative AI will have a significant or transformative impact on the practice of law. Nearly 8,000 lawyers, law students and consumers in the US, UK, Canada and France were polled. (LawNext)

Carol Robles-Román, one of the two longest-serving deputy mayors of the city of New York, died Sunday at the age of 60. Robles-Román served as general counsel to Mayor Michael Bloomberg during his 12 years in office. “Carol Robles was a dynamo her entire life,” US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor said. “She devoted herself to public service and made a noteworthy difference both in the lives of Latinos and all New Yorkers.” (Sisto Funeral Home)
