One Cooley partner and two firm-led matters have been shortlisted by Asian Legal Business (ALB) in its annual Hong Kong Law Awards series.

Will Cai – who heads Cooley’s Asia capital markets practice and co-chairs the firm’s China corporate practice – is shortlisted as ALB’s Dealmaker of the Year for 2023. His shortlisting is based largely on his role leading two deals, both of which are shortlisted as ALB’s Equity Market Deal of the Year.

In the first deal, Cai led a global team of Cooley lawyers representing Bitdeer in its merger with Blue Safari, on which he was joined by partners Nicolas H.R. Dumont from New York and Tim Pitrelli from Singapore.

In the second shortlisted deal, Cai and Pitrelli, joined by Yiming Liu, partner in charge of the Shanghai office, represented Summit Healthcare on its merger with YS Biopharma.

The awards series recognizes the exceptional performance of private practitioners and in-house counsel in Hong Kong. Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony on September 15.
