A start-up distillery and bottling business is expanding its manufacturing site creating 40 new jobs following major financial backing from HSBC UK. Mallows Beverages, founded by father-and-son team Andy and Rhys Mallows, has secured a £4m loan from the bank to expand its manufacturing site and operate 24/7.

The business manufactures, bottles and distributes alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and tonic waters for national and global retailers and brands as well as producing their own range of spirits. Its own-branded lines include a Welsh bourbon whiskey called Charlie Parry, flavoured gins, and rum brand, Rummers. Since setting up in 2021, the start-up has seen sales rocket by 900%.

The new loan will support the business’s rapid growth and create 40 new jobs, including entry-level roles, skilled jobs and commercial roles, at the company located in Coed Ely, near Tonyrefail. HSBC UK said it will also provide the firm with a suite of working capital products as it moves to the next stage of its development.
