VDOT is studying how to best improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians, bicyclists and transit. Anyone can answer the online survey.

“It asks questions including how often do you use the corridor what time of day do you use? The corridor, as well as what kind of improvements you’d like to see,” said Lou Hatter with VDOT.

Butcher and Caudille have some ideas, including speed checks and crosswalks.

“People go super fast through there. I know they’re just trying to make the lights though, there’s a lot of lights people have to go through,” said Caudille. “All the college students and workers walk through the street, through the median. It’s really scary seeing families walk through there without having a stoplight.”

VDOT will finish their study by summer 2024.
