Melanson merges with Marcum LLP

Effective Jan. 1, Merrimack-based regional accounting firm Melanson PC has merged with Marcum LLP.

Melanson’s 13 partners, 100 associates and four offices in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire have become part of Marcum’s New England region, joining its eight already established New England offices. Marcum is based in New York City and offices throughout the U.S. as well as internationally.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Scott G. Toothaker, Melanson’s managing principal is now Marcum’s office managing partner in New Hampshire.

603 Legal Aid receives NH Charitable Foundation grant

603 Legal Aid recently received a $140,000 grant from the NH Charitable Foundation that it says will help it facilitate the addition of an outreach coordinator who over the course of the next two years will collaborate with New Hampshire multicultural communities and faith-based entities to address civil legal needs among traditionally underserved populations.

“This funding from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation will have a tremendous impact on our ability to reach out to diverse populations in our state,” said 603 Legal Aid Executive Director Sonya Bellafant. “We’re excited to build upon the successes of our previous one-year outreach project and bring awareness of free and low-cost civil legal services to those who need it the most.”

Goulston & Storrs adds associate

Goulston & Storrs has announced that Joshua Bearce has have joined the firm as an associate in the
