Plum has announced the addition of financial and business news functionality to its innovative investment platform, with the news content being delivered by AI and machine-learning fintech CityFALCON.

The integration is the latest improvement on the Plum app aimed at giving investors the right tools to make informed decisions. News is available across all investment instruments on Plum, including funds, stocks, and crypto.

The financial and business news functionality follows the addition of Watchlists and Price Alerts earlier this year and forms a key part of the company’s strategy to help customers build their wealth automatically over the long term.

The company is also adding ETFs for EU customers later in the year.

“What’s going on behind the scenes”

With the financial and business news functionality, investors are now able to see a relevant selection of news in-app from highly regarded publications, featuring the latest updates from the companies they invest in.

The goal is to give customers real-time insights about developments impacting their assets, for example macroeconomic events or company news, without the customer needing to leave the app and search for themselves.

Rachel Sondhi, Product Manager for investor experience at Plum, said: “We’re keen to give our customers access to the most useful tools to keep themselves informed as they continue their investment journey. Learning more about the context behind investment movements, or what’s going on behind the scenes at companies they invest in, can help investors to take a more active role in their portfolio management if they so wish.

“At the core of Plum we are always focused on making the entire money management effortless, so by bringing relevant news into the app for customers, it all becomes a much more seamless experience. Now that news is readily available in Plum, we hope our customers will have the best information at their fingertips to inform their next investment decision”.

Ruzbeh Bacha, CEO of CityFALCON, said: “Our machine-learning and AI-based curation and analysis of news content will enable Plum users to better understand markets and what impacts their portfolios”.
