The French Tennis Federation (FFT) and Amazon have inked a four-year exclusive domestic broadcast partnership renewal that will see the French Open’s night sessions remain on the Prime Video streaming service until 2027.
Contract:
- Subscription service will stream 11 exclusive live night sessions for Philippe-Chartier court matches
- Deal includes exclusive rights to two French Openn quarter-final matches
- Prime Video retains non-exclusive rights to the semi-finals and finals
- Coverage features full French commentary, studio analysis and full match replays
Context:
Prime Video has been broadcasting the event at Roland Garros since 2021, with the current deal providing rights to ten night sessions. While there have been teething problems with players adjusting to the later scheduled matches, Amazon has achieved strong audiences. The 2022 men’s singles quarter-final between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic reached more than three million viewers on Prime Video.

Alex Green, Prime Video’s European managing director for sport, said: “We’ve greatly enjoyed partnering with the FFT to establish the night sessions as essential evening viewing in France. With even more headline matches from 2024, we will build on this progress to deliver the highest quality broadcast for our Prime members.”

The 2023 French Open, the last under Prime Video’s existing deal, gets underway in May, with Amazon expanding its night session coverage in 2024 when the new contract kicks in.
