Acme Brick Company honors employees of Amarillo sales office with service awards
The Acme Brick Company presented service pins to five employees of the company’s Amarillo sales office at an awards luncheon at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Attending the event were Acme Brick Company executives, including Ed Watson, President and CEO; and John Brewer, General Sales Manager. Service awards include:
- Kat Manciaz, 2 years
- Amanda Anderson, 5 years
- Rudy Cuellar, 5 years
- Rodney Steph, 20 years, and
- Joe Middleton, 20 years.
Acme Brick Company places great emphasis on employee retention and has many employees with multiple decades of experience. Xcel Energy surpasses 50% carbon-free electricity generation companywide
MINNEAPOLIS – More than half of the power Xcel Energy generates across the eight states it serves now comes from carbon-free sources, the company announced in its 18th annual Sustainability Report this week.
Carbon-free energy made up 53% of the company’s 2022 energy mix, compared to an average of 41% nationwide. The company has also reduced carbon emissions associated with the electricity it provides to customers by 53% from 2005 levels, according to a news release.
The Sustainability Report details the company’s progress in transitioning to clean energy while maintaining reliable and affordable natural gas and electricity service, as well as the company’s commitments to further strengthen communities and value the people that make up its workforce.
“Xcel Energy is at the heart of our nation’s clean energy transition,” said Bob Frenzel, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Xcel Energy. “Guided by our customers’ priorities and enabled by rapidly changing technology, we’re driving toward a clean energy future, bringing reliable, affordable, increasingly clean energy to millions.”
In 2018, the company set a goal to provide customers with 100% carbon-free electricity by 2050 and reduce carbon emissions from its operations by 80% from 2005 levels by 2030.
Roof Spotters, Inc. donates $50K, commits to rebuilding Perryton
Roof Spotters, Inc., a leading roofing and construction company based in Amarillo, is committed to rebuilding the neighboring community of Perryton.
On Monday, June 26, Roof Spotters will dispatch crews to donate $50,000 in material and labor to help roof homes that were devastated by the tornado in Perryton on June 15.
Roof Spotters is pledging 10% of its gross sales made between now and Dec. 31 to continue relief efforts. These funds will be held in reserve at Interstate Bank in Perryton and will be used to continue roofing homes and helping families that were impacted by the storm.
“As a company, Roof Spotters believes in supporting our community and lending a helping hand during times of crisis. We are committed to playing a significant role in the long-term recovery efforts because our company is faithful to two scriptural principles found in Luke 12, ‘For the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked, and where your treasure is, your heart will be also,’” said Leland Long, president of Roof Spotters, Inc. in a news release.

Maverick Fitness to host Special Olympics Texas Athletes
DALLAS — Maverick Fitness Holdings, owner of 35 Orangetheory Fitness studios in North Texas, along with Orangetheory Fitness studios across the state of Texas, will host Special Olympics Texas athletes during an exclusive 90-minute class at their studios on July 22-23.
Orangetheory members will pay $25 to participate in the class with all proceeds going to Special Olympics Texas. Normal classes at Orangetheory are 60 minutes so this class will be an extra challenge for members. They also have the option to donate money to Special Olympics Texas if they cannot make the class.
