CSSI senior managers’ strategic planning conference commences
The Senior Managers Strategic Planning Conference for the Correctional Service of Solomon Islands (CSSI) is now underway in Honiara.
A total of 30 participants are attending this conference, including commandants of each provincial center and directors.
The theme for this year’s Senior Managers Strategic Planning Conference, 2023, is to “initiate positive changes to strengthen our core business and pave the way forward to success.”
Speaking during the opening of the conference on Monday, June 19, 2023, Minister for Police, National Security, and Correctional Services (MPNSCS), Anthony Veke, said the background of this year’s theme reinforces the importance of strengthening CSSI internal governance structures in order to meet the expected service deliveries in correction to the people and the government.
“The gathering is purposely to discuss and share common work place challenges, lessons learned, and ways forward to improve the capacity and capability in their respective work areas.”
“Other key focus areas of the conference include evaluating the agency’s biannual performance against its annual business plan for 2023 and reviewing and reprioritizing activities and programs for 2024 through budget planning and forecasting,” Minister Veke said.
Commissioner for CSSI, Mactus Forau, also highlighted that the conference will cover various presentations from divisional agencies within the Ministry, units, and correctional centers across CSSI.
He told the participants that their participation in the various programs this week is vital, as it is the most important planning activity for CSSI, and the outcomes and agreed actions will determine the agency’s direction and performance.
“Such a conference provides senior managers with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and capabilities, share new innovations and experiences, and gain a greater understanding of the organization’s strategic planning through reviewing the bio-annual business plan 2023, reprioritizing budget expenditures, and other key information sessions,” Commissioner Forau said.
Minister Veke has acknowledged the donor partners and supporters for their ongoing support of CSSI’s development plans.
“To our donor partners and supporters, on behalf of the government, I acknowledge the ongoing support from you towards CSSI’s development plans.” “Thank you for your commitment, and we look forward to continuing to build our relationship and partnership positively in the future,” he said.
This Senior Managers Conference marks the 17th Senior Managers Conference of the Correctional Service of the Solomon Islands.
