The Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network podcast recently featured
two Wyoming small-business owners in recent episodes. The podcast features small-business
success stories, educational topics from experts and interviews with staff and leadership.
Episodes are released twice per month.
The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think
about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is
hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council
and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business
Administration.
In an episode launched May 4, Amanda Martin, owner of Jackson Hole Mobile Massage, was featured
to discuss being named 2023’s Spirit of Wyoming Award winner. Martin has been operating
her business since 2002 and has been a client of the Wyoming SBDC Network since the
inception of her business.
Martin used assistance from her Wyoming SBDC Network advising team to hire her first
employees; attended several virtual trainings; and used the Market Research Center
to analyze her target market. Martin has received help from several advisers, including,
but not limited to, Susan Jerke, Devan Costa-Cargill and P.J. Burns.
The second business featured on the podcast is Sunshine Plant Co., located in Cheyenne.
This episode launched June 13 and features an interview with owners Alexa Blooding and Cylie Ann
Erickson.
Sunshine Plant Co. opened its doors in October 2022. It is a houseplant retail shop
that focuses on providing plants, tools and resources for home gardeners as well as
creating a bustling community for local makers and other small-business owners. In
building its business, Sunshine Plant Co. used resources from the Wyoming SBDC Network,
the Wyoming Community Navigator Program and the Wyoming Women’s Business Center.
These Wyoming SBDC Network podcast episodes and more can be found on Spotify and Google
podcasts. Episodes are available at no cost as are all Wyoming SBDC Network services.
