Parkview Health System honors volunteers
Parkview Medical Center volunteers recently were recognized for sharing more than 7,200 hours of their time in 2022 to 2023 to assist the hospital in a variety of ways, ranging from administrative work, working in the Gift Shoppe, guiding patients and their families, providing emotional support, delivering meals or running errands.
Eleven of the volunteers were recognized for contributing more than 3,400 hours of volunteer service, with Carol Butler leading the team by donating 868 hours in the Gift Shoppe. The Gift Shoppe volunteers presented a $50,000 check to the Parkview Foundation for remodeling and upgrading the surgical waiting room in the main hospital.
In addition, the Parkview Auxiliary presented a check for $500 to the Parkview Foundation, to be used to support the Harmon Family Scholarship fund.
Planet Fitness offers free summer membership for students
Pueblo’s Planet Fitness, 3333 Dillon Drive, invites high school students ages 14-19 to work out for free from May 15 through Aug. 31 as part of the nationwide High School Summer Pass program.
A new national study commissioned by Planet Fitness found that 61% of American teens face mental health struggles and 93% appreciate how fitness can positively impact their lives and lead to healthier lifestyles in adulthood. High schoolers can visit PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass to register for the program before gaining club access starting Monday, May 15.
Those who sign up will have a chance to win academic scholarships by posting a TikTok video and tagging @planetfitness using the hashtags #contest and #HSSP23US to describe their high school summer pass experience.
Sunflower Bank teams up with SmartBiz to help small businesses
In honor of National Small Business Week, Sunflower Bank and SmartBiz have teamed up to offer small business owners a chance to sign up for U.S. Small Business Administration 7a loans.
The streamlined process allows business owners to prequalify and apply for business loans ranging from $25,000 to $350,000, subject to credit approval. The addition of the small business administration loans to the bank’s lending platform can benefit local entrepreneurs by make financing accessible to more businesses.
