The power went out around 9:30 a.m. and should be restored by 11:30 a.m., according to the utility company.
Entergy spokesperson Lee Sabatini said crews are onsite and the cause of the outage remains under investigation.
Traffic lights may not work
The outage includes several major thoroughfares – St. Charles Avenue, South Claiborne Avenue, Magazine Street, Tchoupitoulas Street, Jefferson Avenue and Napoleon Avenue.
If traffic lights aren’t working properly, drivers should treat the intersections as four-way stops.
