Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster BBQ Opens Dunn Loring Location

The “winningest man in barbecue” is ready to welcome customers to his newest restaurant at the Dunn Loring Metro. Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster BBQ opened last month at 2670 Avenir Place, Vienna, which is near the Dunn Loring-Merrifield Metro. Meanwhile, Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster BBQ announced that it closed its location at 220 N. Lee Street in Old Town Alexandria after Christmas Eve. The restaurant focuses on classic Southern smoked barbecue with smoked meats like brisket, pork, chicken and “fixins’” like Mama’s slaw, peach BBQ baked beans, collard greens, and mac ‘n’ cheese. The new Dunn Loring location will have fast-casual counter service with beer and wine at the bar.

3 Developments Underway To Boost Housing, Retail In Falls Church

Housing and affordability is a hot topic in all localities, from DC’s neighbor Arlington County to the outer suburbs of Loudoun and Prince William counties. For the City of Falls Church — Virginia’s smallest independent city by size — efforts to boost housing must be done by using any available land parcels. Three large developments — Broad and Washington, Founders Row 2/Modera Falls Church, and West Falls — will see progress in opening during 2024 and 2025. They are part of a vision to make the city more pedestrian and bicyclist-friendly and provide services closer to where city residents live.

Restaurateur Nick Cordero Plans To Open Sushi Place In Arlington

Restaurateur Nick Cordero is planning to open a sushi restaurant in the Courthouse area of Arlington in late 2024, according to a report. The restaurant, named Saki, will offer a reasonably priced omakase-style Japanese dining experience, The Washington Business Journal reported. Saki will move into a 4,500-square-foot space in the Commodore, a 20-story residential building under construction at 2025 15th St N.

Chinese Lions, Drums Welcome New Pekoe Tea Bar To Fairfax Boulevard

Colorful Chinese lions and drumming provided by Chua Martial Arts helped celebrate the grand opening of the new Pekoe Tea Bar in the City of Fairfax. Originating in the San Francisco Bay area, Pekoe has four boba tea bars in California and at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Located at 9717 Fairfax Blvd., Pekoe is open seven days a week.

$1M New Year’s Raffle Lottery Tickets Sold In Fredericksburg, NoVA

Five $1 million winning tickets in the Virginia Lottery’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle were sold in the Northern Virginia area. Winners started claiming their prizes earlier this month. The $1 million winning tickets were sold in Leesburg, Manassas, Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Arlington.
