(ANSA) – ROME, APR 1 – Over 16 million Italians are ready to
leave for Easter and the 25 April national holiday, Liberation
Day, retail group Confcommercio said Saturday.
Not counting 2.5 million undecided, there will be at least 8
million Easter holidaymakers, 60% of whom will spend two nights
away from home, but one in ten will also ‘stretch’ for the whole
week.
Destinations will be within their own region for one out of two
while, of the remaining half, 8 will travel elsewhere but still
in Italy and 2 to foreign countries.
Seaside resorts are the most popular (22%) followed by cities of
art and villages (together 28%) for a total expenditure of
around 4 billion euros.
These are the forecasts of the Confcommercio Tourism Observatory
by polling agency Swg. (ANSA).
